We would definitely attend again, but first want to complete our attempt at visiting the full round of locations. Sure, it was not as homely and fun as say the Austrian GP, but that is what gives each of the different locations their own character. Other than the traffic issues, we loved the event. I guess it is the luck of the draw, whether one chooses the extremely well planned and booked way of attending a GP or whether you go with the flow of events and risk inconveniencing yourself greatly. Yes, it was irritating that we paid for parking and obviously most others did not, but had they not made that call, the traffic congestion would have been even worse. On each of the other 3 days, our travel times were all similar and not unreasonable for such a large event. I hope that they are all well and in sound health today. We just felt that if it was us or one of our loved ones in need of medical attention, we would be grateful to all patient fellow spectators.
I have no idea where one conjures up so much water in a hurry. Officials also handed out water to all the cars as we filed past. We were directed to leave the parking area through the track area, so there was definitely a serious accident which could not be cleared easily.
Shortly thereafter, an ambulance came nudging it's way through our car park, which admittedly was nothing more than a cut down forest. The message was relayed to us that there had been a bad accident. Thank goodness we did that, because yes, we too were stuck in that infamous car park for 5 hours after the race, getting back to our hotel at around 01:00 am. Reading the reviews, I realize that most people were hugely inconvenienced, just like we were, but we had all read the critical forecasts about the traffic flow problems expected.
